The popularity of Short Message Service (SMS) among mobile phone users is increasing every passing day. Keeping subscribers interests in view, Mobilink is introducing anonymous and group chat using the traditional SMS infrastructure. SMSChat is an exciting new SMS based service that allows Mobilink subscribers to chat and make friends with other Mobilink subscribers in public chat rooms (just like in a web based chat room!!) and to engage in one-2-one chatting too.

In both cases, you will be sent a list of nicks (that matches your search criteria or simply the list of nicks of people currently in the room). You can then invite a particular nick / user to start a private chat.

To start chatting:
Send CHAT to 636 (first time users are asked to complete profile comprising of nick, age, gender and location)

To enter a chat room:
Select a room from the list of rooms sent to you when you send 'Chat'to 636

To chat with other users in a chat room:
Simply reply to chat room messages

To get a list of users in a room:
Reply with 'list'to chat room message.

To filter the list of users:
Once you have received the list of users in the room, you may filter the results according to some other criteria by replying with 'filter’.
You will receive a message with options to filter down your search further according to nick, age, and gender. Select the desired option to get results matching filtering criteria.

To leave a chat room:
Reply EXIT to a chat room message

To invite another user to a private chat:
NICK<space>message e.g. koolcat hello want to chat?

To block a user:
Reply to user’s message with 'block'

To unblock a user :
Reply to user’s message with 'Unblock'

To change profile:
Send 'Change Profile'or 'cp'to 636

Q: What does the service allows me to do?
A: The service allows you to chat with other users in various chat rooms and to invite people you find interesting for a private one-2-one chat over SMS.

Q: How do I start using the service?
A: To start using the service simply SMS 'Chat'to 636. If you haven’t already done so, you will be asked to create a profile (nick, age, gender and location). This step is omitted if you have already created a profile.

Q: How do I enter a chat room to chat publicly with other users?
A: You will be sent a list of chat rooms in response to the 'Chat'command. Please reply with the ID of the room you wish to enter and chat in.

Q: How do I start chatting with other users in a chat room?
A: To chat with other users in a chat room simply reply to the message you receive when you enter a chat room or to any of the messages you receive while in the chat room.

Q: How do I get a list of people who are in a chat room?
A: To see who is in the chat room you are in, reply to a message you receive from the chat room with the 'List'command.

Q: How do I leave a chat room?
A: To leave a chat room, reply to a chat room message with the 'Exit'command.

Q: How do I invite another user for a private one-2-one chat?
A: While in a chat room to invite another user to chat privately, reply to a chat room message with the command nick<space>message e.g. Ahmed hello how are you?

Q: How can I search profiles to find people to chat with?
A: To search profiles to find other users to chat with, send 'Search'to 636 and follow the easy steps.

Q: Is there a way to filter the search results I receive?
A: Yes there is. Simply reply with the command 'Filter'to the message that contains results of the search you conducted.

Q: Am I able to chat privately with other users without entering a chat room?
A: Yes you are. Simply send 'Search'to 636 to find people whom you can then invite for a private chat.

Q: How do I block someone from starting a one-2-one chat with me?
A: Simply reply 'Block'when you receive a private chat message from another user.

Q: How do I un-block someone that I had blocked previously?
A: Reply to user’s message with 'Unblock'or search the same user and send SMS to the user. The system will reply with 'this user is blocked’, then simply reply with 'Unblock'

Q: How do I stop the service from sending me any private chat requests?
A: Send the command MS<space>U to 636.

Q: How do I resume receiving private chat requests?
A: Send the command MS<space>R to 636.

Q: Is there a way to maintain a contact / friends list?
A: Yes there is. While in a chat room, reply to a chat room message with the command Nick<space>ADD e.g. Ali ADD. The user Ali will be added to your friends list and you will receive a notification when he joins a room / comes online.

Q: How do I change my profile?
A: You can change your profile by sending the command 'Change Profile'or 'CP'to 636.

Q: Who can use this service?
A: This service is available for Jazz Prepaid subscribers only.

Q: How can I unsubscribe from this service?
A: You can unsubscribe by sending “unsub” via SMS to 636.
